Formula E has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud, naming it its Principal Artificial Intelligence Partner in a multi-year deal that places AI at the core of the electric racing series’ future.

The upgraded agreement builds on a collaboration launched in January 2025 and will see Google’s Gemini AI models integrated across Formula E’s operations, from race strategy and live broadcasts to logistics and sustainability.

AI is already used during races through Formula E’s Strategy Agent, which provides real-time insights and predictions to viewers, analysing driver performance and tactical decisions as they unfold.

Beyond competition, the championship plans to use AI-powered digital twins to simulate race and event set-ups, reducing the need for on-site reconnaissance and heavy equipment transport.

Organisers say this will help cut emissions while maintaining performance standards, supporting Formula E’s net-zero carbon certification.

Formula E chief executive Jeff Dodds described the partnership as a “game-changer for motorsport”, while Google Cloud said it demonstrated how AI can deliver a competitive edge in high-pressure environments.

As the world’s first all-electric FIA World Championship, Formula E races in major city centres worldwide, including Monaco, and positions itself as a testing ground for electric vehicle innovation.
