The Ministry of Communication and Digital emphasizes the importance of using artificial intelligence (AI) that is oriented towards public interest and social development.

In the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held in New Delhi, India, the Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria said that the global impact of AI is currently only at the level of “six out of ten”.

According to him, the progress of AI technology still needs to be followed by efforts to ensure that the benefits can be felt evenly by the community, especially in developing countries.

He said that one of the main challenges is not only the development of increasingly sophisticated AI technology, but ensuring that the technology is able to answer the real needs of the community, ranging from health services, education, to local economic empowerment.

“Digital transformation is not enough to stop at providing infrastructure. What is needed is meaningful access, so that technology really becomes a solution for people’s lives,” said Nezar, quoted on Monday, February 23.

He also added that the India AI Impact Summit 2026 is an important momentum for developing countries to strengthen global collaboration in building inclusive, trustworthy, and public-benefit-oriented AI.

Through this forum, Global South countries encourage the development of AI as a public good, a technology that not only drives economic growth, but also strengthens social welfare and digital justice.
