Uber and Nvidia will deploy robotaxis running Nvidia Drive Hyperion and Alpamayo on the Uber network starting in Los Angeles and San Francisco in 2027 and expanding to 28 cities globally by 2028.
The vehicles will use Drive Hyperion and Alpamayo, which Nvidia describes as a reasoning-based AI model designed to handle complex road scenarios.
The rollout will begin with data-collection vehicles to train the system on city-specific conditions.
It will then move to operator-supervised launches before targeting fully driverless Level 4 operations.
Uber said the partnership fits its strategy of working with multiple autonomous vehicle developers rather than building the technology itself.
