Meta Platforms will lay off employees across its Reality Labs unit, some social media teams, and its recruiting operations. The Information reported, the cuts are expected on March 25.
Reuters previously reported Meta was preparing broader layoffs that could have affected 20% or more of its workforce, after senior executives signaled the plans internally.
Meta is investing heavily in AI and forecast total expenses of US$162 billion to US$169 billion in 2026, while competition for AI hires has pushed up compensation costs.
