OpenAI said India is among its top five countries globally for per-person use of advanced AI reasoning on ChatGPT Plus.
Users show strong activity in coding, data analysis, and complex problem-solving.
However, adoption is three times more concentrated in major cities than in comparable countries.
The company said the ranking is based on reasoning tokens used by ChatGPT Plus users.
It added that Codex users rose 4x in India within two weeks of the app’s February 2026 launch.
