The White House Rapid Response team condemned actor Mark Hamill on Thursday, May 7, 2026, for distributing an AI-generated depiction of President Donald Trump in a grave. Officials characterized the post as dangerous rhetoric following recent threats against the president’s life.
Government representatives labeled the “Star Wars” actor a “sick individual” after he shared the graphic on the Bluesky social media platform on Wednesday morning. The image featured the president in an open grave with a headstone dated 1946-2024.
“@MarkHamill is one sick individual. These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves,” stated the White House Rapid Response team.
The official account further linked the actor’s social media activity to the security environment surrounding the executive branch.
“This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President,” the Rapid Response team posted.
The controversial post included a caption by Hamill expressing his desire for the president to face legal and political consequences.
“If Only — He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes,” wrote Hamill, Actor.
Hamill continued his statement by predicting how the president would be viewed in the future.
“Long enough to realize he’ll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore. #don_TheCON,” Hamill captioned the image.
During a 2025 appearance on the “WTF With Marc Maron” podcast, the actor previously discussed his feelings regarding the current political landscape in the United States.
“It’s one thing for him to have sneaked by the first time — when he got reelected, that’s on us,” Hamill said.
In the same interview, the actor expressed a shift in his perception of the American electorate following the election results.
“That’s where I’m really ashamed of — because I always thought there are more decent Americans, honest Americans than there are others. And it proved I was wrong. I’m in the minority in my own country,” Hamill said.
The timing of the social media post coincided with heightened tensions following an attempted assassination at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner less than two weeks ago. Additionally, Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche recently announced charges against former FBI Director James Comey for separate social media content perceived as a threat to the president.
