Anthropic, the US AI firm behind the Claude model, is in talks with private equity firms including Blackstone and Hellman & Friedman to form an AI-focused joint venture, The Information reported.
The proposed partnership would seek to sell Anthropic’s technology to companies backed by those firms and could offer consulting to help integrate the AI into their operations.
The discussions were temporarily affected by a dispute with the US government over restrictions on the military use of Anthropic’s tools.
The Defense Department labeled the company a supply chain risk and said its tools would be barred from use by the Pentagon and its contractors.
