Anthropic is set to sign an agreement with the Australian government to share data on AI adoption and its economic impact, as part of broader cooperation on AI safety.
The memorandum covers sharing findings on model capabilities and risks, plus joint safety evaluations and research with Australian universities, and the company said it would also target investments in Australian data centers and energy.
Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei said in Canberra that the deal formalizes cooperation, and it follows similar arrangements with AI safety institutes in the US, Britain, and Japan.
Australia does not yet have a dedicated AI law and is currently relying on existing regulations alongside voluntary guidelines.
