ByteDance is assembling computing power with Nvidia Blackwell systems outside China, working with Aolani Cloud to deploy about 500 systems in Malaysia, totaling roughly 36,000 B200 chips.

Aolani Cloud is a Southeast Asian cloud firm that acquires these servers from Aivres, which assembles servers using Nvidia chips. If the plan goes through, the hardware involved could cost more than US$2.5 billion.

ByteDance plans to use the computing power for AI research and development outside China and to meet growing global demand for AI from its customers.

An Aolani spokesman said the company is currently operating with about US$100 million in hardware.

Nvidia, ByteDance and Aolani Cloud did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
