ChatGPT and two other AI chatbots were approved for official use by aides in the US Senate, according to the report published by The New York Times.

The memo says aides may use Google’s Gemini chat, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot on Senate platforms.

A Microsoft spokesperson said the company was looking into the approval.

The move reflects a broader trend of government institutions exploring how AI tools can support everyday work, including drafting, research, and information retrieval.
