OpenAI Said to Cut Back on Side Projects to Focus on Core Business

The Wall Street Journal reported that OpenAI plans to refocus on coding and business users.

Leaders are expected to notify staff in the coming weeks about areas that will be deprioritized.

Fidji Simo, OpenAI chief of applications, previewed the changes at an all‑hands meeting.

It said Sam Altman, chief executive officer, and Mark Chen, chief research officer, were among leaders actively looking at which areas to deprioritize.
