Incheon will host the 2026 First Global Challenge, one of the world’s largest international youth robotics competitions, in October, according to city officials on Thursday.
The bid to host the competition was pursued based on global networks and experience in robotics industry cooperation built through the international youth robotics competition Robotex International, which was held in Incheon last year.
The event will bring together more than 2,000 young people from around 200 countries along with 3,000 family members and officials, according to Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Tourism Organization.
Participants will design and build robots and complete mission-based tasks during the competition, according to city officials.
Incheon City signed a memorandum of understanding with the First Global Foundation and the Incheon Tourism Organization at Incheon Metropolitan City Hall on Jan. 19 to support the successful hosting of the event. The city will be responsible for administrative and financial assistance, along with global marketing. The foundation announced it would cooperate with the city throughout the entire process leading up to the event.
The competition will be held from Oct. 7 to 10.
