LG CNS announced on the 18th that it has entered into a collaboration with Kurly, an e-commerce company operating Market Kurly, to conduct humanoid robot demonstrations at logistics centers and automate logistics.
According to LG CNS, the two companies recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation on a humanoid PoC, proof of concept, and logistics automation business aimed at advancing smart logistics centers. Through this agreement, the companies will leverage Kurly’s logistics infrastructure to verify the field suitability of humanoid robots, develop intelligent logistics solutions, and explore new business opportunities.
The core of this collaboration is the humanoid robot PoC being conducted at Kurly’s logistics centers. The companies plan to find ways to reduce workers’ burdens by applying robots and identify logistics tasks where stability can be enhanced. They also plan to verify the field suitability of LG CNS’s robot learning and operation platform, PhysicalWorks. Through this, they will measure and analyze the robots’ task accuracy, execution speed, and efficiency improvements compared to existing work methods.
LG CNS will also integrate Kurly’s logistics center automation equipment and logistics operating system to streamline the entire logistics process, from receiving to storage, picking, and shipping. Previously, LG CNS carried out the construction of Kurly’s Gimpo Complex Logistics Center and Changwon Logistics Center, through which it secured technology for operating ambient, refrigerated, and frozen environments in a single location, as well as logistics expertise for Same-Day Delivery.
The companies plan to advance next-generation robot-based logistics intelligence based on successful cases of applying humanoid robots within logistics centers.
Park Sang-gyun, Head of Communications, Distribution, and Service Business at LG CNS, Executive Vice President, said, “The combination of Kurly’s logistics operation expertise and LG CNS’s technological capabilities will create meaningful synergy in the field of logistics automation,” adding, “Through this collaboration, we will develop innovation technologies centered on the field.”
Huh Tae-young, Kurly’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), said, “Kurly has accumulated vast amounts of data from logistics sites and is enhancing efficiency by utilizing data and artificial intelligence (AI),” adding, “We look forward to connecting LG CNS’s advanced physical AI technology with field data to achieve innovation in logistics sites.”
